Bunny and Art's Advice For Sellers

Certificate of Continued Occupancy

The purpose of a CCO is to make sure that when a property is sold, it's fit and safe to live in. While sometimes the real estate sales contract calls for the buyer to get the CCO,  typically it's the seller's responsibility to fill out the CCO applications and arrange for the inspection by the town in which the property is located.

Below are the requirements from Freehold Township for a CCO, as of 11/1/06. If the property being sold is in a different town, check with the local building department - as some towns use different procedures.
