The
Closing
This is where
it all comes together. At the closing, you’ll bring the
balance of the funds you’ll need to complete the
transaction. Your attorney will provide you with the
dollar amounts and who the checks get made out to. The
checks are usually bank checks or certified checks,
sometimes a wire transfer can be used also.
If applicable,
your attorney will also have you sign all necessary
documents for your mortgage, and will process that
paperwork for you.
Your attorney
will also prepare the new deed, and register the deed
with the appropriate county clerk.
It is possible
to arrange for the closing to take place without you
being there. This is done by pre-signing all paperwork.
Talk to your attorney to work out the details.
At the end of
the closing you will be the owner of the property. The
seller will have vacated the property by that time
(unless prior arrangements were made). You will get the
keys and you now have full access to your new home.
